Many would ask, “What on earth would I need an invisible accessory for?” — right before spraying on two or so whiffs of perfume without realizing the irony. I’d argue that scent is the cherry on top of any look — invisible, yet unforgettable. Through the many events I’ve run late to (not my proudest moments), I’ve found myself borrowing perfumes from my sister or mother, only to realize how each one transformed the way I felt and looked. Some scents went unnoticed, others earned me compliments — “This scent suits you” — and sometimes, curious questions about what I was wearing. Nobody sees it, yet everyone feels it. That’s what makes perfume the most powerful and universal form of self-expression. Being yourself doesn’t have to be loud — even on quiet days, a good scent speaks more than I need to. It speaks for itself.
